On March 8 the Committee of Concerned Scientists sent a notice out to all of the invitees to its Annual Meeting that the Board decided, in light of the country’s attempt to stem the spread of Covid-19, to cancel its Annual Meeting for 2020.
March 8, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
We write to inform you that, because of the growing COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to cancel the annual CCS meeting scheduled for April 19,2020. We do so with regret but out of an abundance of caution.
As all of you know, numerous scientific and medical organizations have already cancelled their meetings. Many scientific and health societies, governmental scientific, health organizations, other professional bodies, and universities, have already instructed their members, faculties and staffs not to travel—so far, mostly internationally, but increasingly, domestically, as well. And many universities have decided, or are in the process of deciding, to hold courses online.
So, regrettably, we won’t hold the annual meeting we’d planned, and to which we’ve looked forward, on April 19, 2020. We trust that the current pandemic will abate soon, and that all of us will be able to proceed with health and strength.
Of course, even as we cancel our meeting, CCS will continue to pursue its important work.
Best,
CCS Co-Chairs:
