Many organizations have called on the Iranian government and President Rouhani to reconsider the death sentence for Dr. Ahmadreza Djalali. Dr. Djalali is a physician and professor of Emergency and Disaster Medicine. He was arrested in Iran while conducting a training to which he had been invited (and had done on other occasions, without incident). He was accused of espionage and held for long periods of time in Evin Prison’s solitary unit. CCS has written on various occasions requesting the Iranian government to review this case, reconsider the sentence, reverse the death penalty decision and release Dr. Djalali. Other organizations, to include Endangered Scholars Worldwide, the European University Association (see www.concernedscientists.org to see the post) and Amnesty International, have done likewise. Additionally, 175 Nobel Laureates (also on concernedscientists website) wrote on behalf of Dr. Djalali requesting his release.
