Condition worsens for Ahmadreza Djalali, Swedish-Iranian Lecturer, sentenced for execution in Iran. Health has badly deteriorated. Is in solitary confinement. Family very concerned about his physical and mental state. In need of medical care. Many academics, Nobel Laureates have stepped forward in his defense. Now the President of the German Rectors’ Conference and the Chairman of the Board for the Swedish Association of Higher Education Institutions have sent a joint letter of support to the Belgian Foreign Minister, as have the Rectors of the two universities in Brussels. Many human rights organizations have been writing, since Djalali’s initial arrest, in his behalf. At this time, it is critical that rapid action be taken and the death penalty be lifted and he be released.
